When Miami Dade College purchased the building on the corner of SW 8th Street and 27th Avenue to expand their Interamerican Campus, they realized that the task of renovation would not be a simple one.

The team, led by OHL- Arellano and MC Harry, was able to generate an ambitious and well disciplined construction approach. The Mechanical system renovation represented some particular challenges. Tropic Mechanical, together with SDM Consulting Engineers, were able to bring within budget a brand new Chiller Plant with highest level efficiencies. The multiphase project is proceeding with the parking garage in full operating and in use by students. At completion, the building now has 8 full classroom floors and other amenities making the Interamerican Campus one of the most important within the Miami Dade College portfolio.
