UM – Cox Science Building AHU Renovation
The University of Miami’s James Cox Science building is home to some of the University’s most prized researchers. The facility is the base of the University’s award winning research infrastructure. The demands of the varied experiments required the introduction of a completely renovated built-up air handling unit on within the building’s penthouse.
This project contained multiple challenges, among them maintaining the unit within the existing footprint, working on a building occupied with students, with minimal cooling shutdowns. The effort proved to be challenging, but the project was completed successfully and the owner was extremely satisfied with the final product. The 250-ton air handling unit designed by Moses and Associates is capable of providing the facility with all of it’s growing needs into the future.
